Winter is almost here! As we get ready for sledding, snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, snowmen, and all of the other fun winter activities, it’s also important to think about how the change in weather can effect pest activity. While we may not be seeing as many insects, rodent activity rises during the winter months. So what can you do to prepare for winter?

  1. Inspect the exterior of your home for any vulnerable areas like gaps and cracks where mice could get in
  2. If you find gaps or cracks, seal them with a rodent-proof material
  3. Keep firewood stacked away from the home as rodents and spiders like to hang out in wood piles
  4. If you are feeding the birds, keep any extra bird seed in a tightly sealed metal container that can’t be chewed through by rodents
  5. Ask your local pest control professional for recommendations of a pest control treatment plan that is suitable for your home
