Spring is here which means the dreaded return of mosquitoes! Mosquitoes thrive when temperatures are at least 50 degrees. April is a prime month for mosquitoes in Upstate New York.
As you spend time playing and working outdoors this spring, it’s important to think about mosquitoes. You can help discourage mosquito population growth by ensuring there are no sources of standing water around your property as this is where they lay their eggs. Then you can deploy an effective mosquito control program designed by pest control professionals and tailored to the size and conditions of your outdoor space.
One of our favorite mosquito control methods is the In2Care Mosquito Trap. The In2Care Mosquito Trap targets two life-stages of the mosquito, adult and larvae. Adult mosquitoes are lured to the trap by its black color, design, water and special organic odor lure where they will deposit eggs in the water. Inside the trap they sit on the floater gauze and get contaminated with a slow-killing biological fungus and a larvicide. The fungus kills the mosquito in a few days. Until then, the infected mosquito will spread the larvicide to breeding sites near the trap. It is incredibly effective in reducing the mosquito population in the area around the trap!
We also like to deploy residual mosquito control applications to overgrowth and low lying tree & shrub foliage (mosquito resting areas) as well as IGR dunks in water depressions like ditches and ponds.
